Alas, here we are, in a time where men who portray and possess masculine power are labeled cave men, outcasts, traditionlists, anti- feminist, and people withholding to old barabric principles.
While one may say and imagine some women as the anti masculinity activists, we also see shallow men side with this segment of females, not only because of their worship of the devine feminine, but for their insecurities and lack of a masculine character, that could enable them to take control of their lives and make something out of it.
So masculinity, is it truly a toxic trait of men, or is it a sign of a true righteous character? While there are multiple definitions and perspectives on the definition of masculinity, I belive the following is a good summary. Masculinity ( also called manhood or manliness) is a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles associated with men and boys. Although masculinity is socially constructed, research indicates that some behaviors considered masculine are biologically influenced. On one spectrum, masculinity includes traits such as strength, courage, independence, leadership, and assertiveness. On the other, masculinity can portarty another extreme, the so called Machismo, a form of masculinity that emphasizes power and is often associated with a disregard for consequences and responsibility. Virility (from the Latin vir, “man”) is similar to masculinity, but especially emphasizes strength, energy, and sex drive.
It is no debate that both men and women can possess masculine or feminine traits, as seen with popular and historical male and female figures.
Even if these classifications are in the form of separate entities , it is right for us to hold back and say that a man is better than a woman , and a male is better than a female , in the smallest matters, and the biggest ones inevitably, or is one energy preferable have over the other. Masculine and feminine energy are not necessarily a fixed state that cannot be moved nor shifted. Perhaps they fluctuate from one to the other, according to place, time, role, position, and need.
The female owner of an establishment may help her direct herself to hold masculine qualities, such as courage and assertiveness , to work with male figurewhether they are clients, partners, or representatives of entities such as a government or others. In a similar manner, men may be inclined to showcase feminine qualities, such as kindness and tenderness. Where they can put it to work in professions, such as treating patients as nurses or helping people with mental illness, as a psychologist.
In my opinion, the femininst movement is a revolution against the overwhelming, toxic masculinity, that states gender as a widely accepted factor to exercise certain unwanted acts such as, men favoured over women in widley equal skill jobs, the recognition of man to exceed women in certain aspects because he as a man has a right to, or as an excuse to put women in their place, whatever the hell that means. That my dear viewers, is the core of machonism, not masculinity as whole but a toxic sub structure. No ideology is perfect, and it’s a bit unfair to disregard one as whole, especially the good parts because of a set of practiced inappropriate substructure.So where does it leaves us with the current sate of things? As I see it masculinity, which can a relavent characteristic in both men and women, ought to redefined, explained and support should be given to it’s positive traits. It can be, as most things can, both a blessing and a curse, a double edged sword, you get the idea. Friends, we live in a world deprived of great leaders, far too many followers are crowding the space, and those willing to take up the reins, are more and more corrupt, lack Empathy, wisdom, honour and the responsibility to do what needs to be done, whilst taking into consideration all aspects especially the humane part of it. The world we knew as kids, the version our parents painted to us, was a cover up for something ever so sinister. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to see a few more good masculine, empathtic, honorable and integrable, female and male leaders, take up the responsibility to bring some light into the dark abyss we currently reside in.
